Focus on Nutritional Therapy

Nutrition is widely recognised as a vital component of overall health and well-being. Nutritional needs are very individual and dietary modifications will therefore be unique to you.

Registered dietitians are uniquely qualified to translate scientific information about nutrition and health into practical advice on dietary and lifestyle changes. They provide impartial advice to manage disease risk, advising about food related problems and treating diet related conditions and ill health including:

  • Weight management
  • Dietary management of existing conditions such as:
    - Obesity
    - Diabetes
    - High cholesterol
    - Hypertension
    - Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)
  • Advice on suspected food allergy, intolerance and gastro-intestinal symptoms
  • Sports specific nutritional advice
  • Healthy eating for you and your family

Using an evidence-based approach, dietitians are highly trained in communication skills and are able to empathise with you and therefore tailor dietary recommendations to be as compatible with your lifestyle as possible.

Initial consultations are for 45 minutes and during that time you will be expected to discuss your current dietary intake and eating habits. Keeping a food diary for 3 days prior to your consultation would be beneficial.

A follow up appointment of 20 minutes is optional depending on your individual requirements. If you would like to find out more prior to the consultation then I would be happy to discuss any queries you may have.
